Hey guys! I'm glad you came back to my blog, you must've enjoyed it...well I hope. As you may know, ancient Greeks had different genres in theater. The main point of this blog is to teach you all about tragedy, mostly. The amateur actors in theater potrayed different emotions including tragedy, comedy, and sacrifices. If you were in the mood for a dramatic and deep play, you would go to the tragedy showings. But if you were in the mood for laughing your bottom off, you would definitely catch a comedy show. Yet, if you wanted to praise the famous king Dionysus, you would watch some goats get murdered! Fun right?!?! Greeks did this because they believe they would receive "prizes" from their God Dionysus. Greeks expressed their emotions in theater many ways. They would often use costumes and masks to show the full aspect of the play. Some of their costumes would include boots, to add to their heights, gloves, to move the focus to the actors hands, and masks, to make the expressions clear to the audience. Some believe that Greeks masks amplified their voices on stage, but the concrete stadiums sometimes held thousands and thousands of people, so I don't think that it helped them any. Well, I'm off to eat some pizza! See ya next week!
This is a photo of modern day humans reenacting what they think that theater in Greece was like!
